A fun, fast paced and exciting lesson on personification using lots of images to explore how to personify, and what it is. Starting with a riddle to get them thinking, it moves on to learning how to define personification before creating examples. Finishing with planning and writing a description, this lesson worked really well with year 7 in a mixed ability set.

Following the structure, format and wording of the WJEC/EDUQAS literature exam paper, I have created a mock paper using Afternoons by Philip Larkin for students to practice exam responses. A fun way to engage students in creative writing and story telling. This tool can be used for both Key Stage 2 and Key Stage 3. It is also very accessible for SEN students in lower KS4. Using these cards, students are given a story task. They need to use all six of their emoji's within their story, and can even cut out their stickers to use within their writing. A really fun exercise for students and something that stops the 'writers block' that young people often suffer.
