A fun and creative lesson allowing low ability students to access important quotes relating to Lady Macbeth. An outstanding lesson with a wide range of tasks to ensure understanding. This lesson was used with a low ability set and all students were able to analyse the quotes given. Differentiated materials are included. All learning objectives, success criteria, timers and resources are included in the lesson.

A creative, engaging and interesting lesson looking at an Emily Dickenson poem and analyzing language. Students are given a range of tasks to help 'zoom in' on word choice and meaning. Students are asked to create a 'blackout' picture, keeping only the five most important words to them. Used with a top set year 7 class, but easily adapted for key stage 4.

An engaging, exciting and fast paced lesson looking at the change in language from Shakespearean to modern. Using Shakespearean insults, students play a dice game to create their own before learning how to translate them. Student study what prefixes and suffixes are and try and explain how language has changed. All learning objectives, success criteria and resources are included and timers are embedded into the powerpoint. Dice are needed for this game. Great to introduce Shakespeare!

Bloomsbury Publishers have released a competition to design your own Hogwarts Professor for school children from the age of 7. I have created a lesson with all Learning Objectives, Success Criteria, resources, tasks and powerpoints for this competition to create a fun, engaging and educational lesson.

A fun lesson to start a Shakespeare module, looking at Shakespearian insults, how Shakespeare has influenced our language today and how he is still relevant. A mixture of fun facts about Shakespeare to play a bingo game, a research sheet, a Shakespearian insult activity and opportunities to analyse and explore interesting use and change of word classes. Easily adaptable for all abilities. I used with a year 9 set 4 class and it was really successful. Worksheet available for students to independently work through sections to analyse and understand the text. Style of worksheet enables students to get used to different questions used in the Eduqas English GCSE exam. Training students to select individual words and phrases and link them to analysis and personal opinion. This lesson allows students to consider a range of themes and match them to short/medium quotes. From this point, students start to select individual words and begin 'embedding quotes' into their analysis- taking them a step above PEE structure. Students can use this to practice skills needed for their Eduqas English Literature GCSE examination. All success criteria, learning objectives and resources are included in the lesson, as well as embedded timers and a 'real world' link to ensure the lesson is 'Ofsted ready'. Students engaged in this lesson and massively improved their understanding of how to answer using embedded quotes.

Students are able to identify, label and apply presentational features whilst learning more contextual information about Victorian life. This lesson has all learning objectives, success criteria and resources available in one PowerPoint, as well as 'real life' links. Any students studying Charles Dickens or other Victorian Authors could use this lesson as a Christmas lesson whilst ensuring students are engaging in contextual resource.

A lesson analyzing the character of Scrooge and what the reader learns about him in the first stave. A sheet with three paragraphs to analyse and annotate is included, with the hardest paragraph annotate to demonstrate expectations to the students. This all leads up to an essay question about Scrooge as a character. Perfect for low ability students studying A Christmas Carol for GCSE.

A fun one off lesson getting students to plan, consider and create ghost stories using first person. Can be used in conjunction with any other scheme of work or as a one off cover lesson. A good introduction to creative writing or drama. Worksheet with pictures of different haunted settings included to help students who struggle with creative writing.
