This adaptation of the National Geographic article explores the history of Guy Fawkes. Questions encourage students to identify and analyse language techniques and summarise chunks of the article. Ideal for use when teaching RUAE skills or for a homework/ extension task.

This is a high quality critical response to the question: Write about a play you have recently read which contains a flawed character who ultimately gains your admiration. This activity includes model paragraphs/ stimulus for writing a scary Halloween story. I used this with my class after spending time learning about developing setting, character and plot. Pupils were given a stimulus picture and asked to write a descriptive story in 45 minutes in order to give a snapshot of their ability/ learning.

This pack aims to help students understand the various forms of travel writing. It includes a blog review by Zoella, a telegraph travel journal, a Visit California advert and a Disneyland poster. Pupils are encouraged to consider the impact of these pieces of travel writing. There is also an opportunity for students to plan their own trip which involved researching skills and managing a budget. The pack encourages pupils to write postcards home/ letters of complaint from their imaginary trip.
