Anti Stress Colouring Book - Enjoy some colouring therapy.

Teachers need some fun to. This is my adult colouring book for teachers. You could print it out for your class to quietly colour during tests (when they have completed them to calm and relax them), or during long staff meetings - nothing is more relaxing and constructive than a little light colouring. This is to encourage staff to have a little time every day to think and reflect and not work. This is my attempt at improving the good life balance of staff. All these images were in the public domain. In the majority of the cases however, it took both a long time to find, then even longer to use editing software to sharpen and improve the images. I would love to know what people think of them.

Remember 9/11 - PowerPoint + 31 Teaching Activities To Try In Class + 9/11 Writing Prompts

Remember 9/11 is a presentation showing the towers before, during and after the event. It captures some of the drama and will be an excellent focal point for any teacher wanting to talk about this event in a balanced way. It would also make an excellent backdrop for an assembly. I have added a presentation showing you how to use photo flashcards for 31 different teaching activities in the classroom and also a set of writing prompts to encourage the children to describe the events more creatively. You could look at it directly as a presentation and discuss the different actions being shown in each of photos. You could print off and laminate the photos to make an interesting, eye-catching display about Remembering 9/11. The students could also take the laminated photos and sort them into different groupings. The students can then discuss what they think each one was saying or thinking. The photos could also be used as prompts for creative writing, factual writing or descriptive writing.

3D Monthly Desktop Targets Pyramid, Motivational Quotes And Positive Behaviour System

Make target setting an interactive, hands on activity! This ideas is based on a simple 3D square based pyramid net. There is space on each side for students to write down their monthly English, Maths and Social targets. There is also a space for their name and something they learnt in the previous month. I added the motivational quotes so students appreciate what they are learning towards. I added the positive behaviour system, where the students move around the track each time they achieve their pyramids targets! The harder they work, the faster they move around the track. Lots of fun for everyone! I have created this worksheet in black and white so teachers can either print them on white paper or onto different coloured papers, the idea being to change the colour of the pyramid every month, so everyone knows which pyramid they should now be following.

Thinking Scarves - The Creative Thinking System for Primary Schools

Thinking Scarves - The Creative Thinking System for Primary Schools

I would like to introduce a brand new concept in thinking. Thinking Scarves. For a long time I was a huge fan of thinking hats... until a teacher one day wrote to me and said she did not like Thinking Hats as the Black Hat was very negative and could help to reinforce negative stereotypes about the colour black. In contrast, "White" was seen as a straight down the line, honest hat. The facts, pure and simple, without and falsification or misinterpretation. I then thought I am a teacher. Why not simply reinvent the whole system - forget about hats - scarves are the answer. With scarves, you can share them between friends, creating a closer bond between the thinkers. Make a thinking system which works perfectly in a primary school environment. Green - What is positive - makes you feel good? Red - What is negative? What makes you feeling angry or upset? Purple - what are your general feelings towards a character? Like purple, feelings can be hard to define. Gold - Make 'n' Shake - Follow your dreams and all the streets will be paved in gold. Blue : Facts - Facts, like the sea and sky can appear endless. Guide: No scarves, just a handy bag to carry all the scarves in and organise them into some sort of order. I would love other people's opinions on this concept.

Walk to School Week Conversation Starter

I love to get the students really talking about an issue. I saw another teacher do it and thought that this looks really effective. My Walk to School Week teaching resources are designed to get the students to think about why we should walk to school, what are the alternatives and the benefits and the costs of walking to school using different modes of transport. They are also designed to get students really talking, listening and expressing their own ideas. My teaching resources could be printed out and made into an eye catching, thought provoking display or used as a whole class discussion stimulus. I am now making a new series of resources like this, so that teachers and students can get a lot more out of every lesson.

Story Start Pack - different short stories and ideas to develop into stories.

Want to inspire your students? These pictures form the basic parts of a story to get them thinking. The pictures can be simply mixed up to change the story. The different pictures from the different stories could all be mixed up to create a really interesting mash-up of different stories. A real challenge is to see if a class can create a whole story from all the different images in the presentation!

Design a Game 4 Template Boards I have collected 4 different blank board templates - the idea is for children to develop their own board games and their own rules. They then need to teach the rest of the class how to play their game. Lots of talking, discussion and communication skills.

Information Gap 1 - Looking for a Job

Information Gap 1 - Looking for a Job Get the students working in pairs. Give one person of each pair the Student A page and the other the Student B page. There are four different jobs being advertised in the local paper. However, there are ten gaps on each page. Students should ask each other questions to find out the information that is missing from their page, then write it down, asking for spellings as necessary. Encourage them to communicate verbally to get the answers, rather than letting each other look at their pages! When all the students have finished, bring the group back together and ask checking questions to elicit the answers, as well as to find out how much the students have understood about the other material in the adverts.

This is a great resource to show at the same time the World Rugby Cup is on. Discuss the actions on the playing field, the different aspects of the game and how the players are feeling in each photo. You could look at it directly as a presentation and discuss the different activities being shown in each of the photos. I also added a PowerPoint to show you 31 different ways you could use this teaching resource in your classroom. You could print off and laminate the photos to make an interesting, eye-catching display about Rugby. The students could also take the laminated photos and sort them into different groupings. The students can then discuss what they think each one was saying or thinking. The photos could also be used as prompts for creative writing, factual writing or descriptive writing.
