I am a music specialist and the music I write is original, tested on children and for the less confident teacher. My aim is to provide you with everything you need to fulfil Topic requirements and those of the National Curriculum (without having to prepare anything.) I provide Power Points/videos and give you mp3s and lyrics. Notation is sometimes given. The instrumental parts are dead easy!

Machines. Composing for non specialist

A powerpoint with inbuilt videos and guidance to create a composition about machines A silent video is used at the end and children play along side it once they have decided which instruments are appropriate. Children are encouraged to look at the movement of the machines and from that observation, gain clues as to the type of sound, pitch or rhythm could be used. I am using this as part of a topic about the Industrial Revolution\nA stand alone video ' Silent machines ...... ' is available for download if you want to add your class composition to it.

A British composer . Sir John Tavener. A collection of ideas

A video and suggested follow up ideas , including composing, following the work and life of Sir John Tavener. He died in 2013 and his music is well worth a listen to . In order to comply to the size of download that the TES will accept I have put together video with a lower resolution so the quality is not brilliant but acceptable.

Repeat 3 times . Add other characters.

Playing the maracas

Most primary classrooms have a few maracas in the store room.Be amazed at the different sounds a maraca can make! This resource contains a song, and 2 videos. One video shows how a maraca can be played. The second shows a maestro playing the maracas. Children are encouraged to explore the sounds a maraca can make. They are asked to make a simple presentation with their maraca and join in with a Spanish song. This lesson can be adapted for a current topic. The videos are included in the PPT. The YouTube links are for acknowledgement.
