I have used these resources after reading the book "Lost and found" by Oliver Jeffers. The film is edited highlights of the way a penguin moves. I wrote the music to follow those movements. The children can add instruments to it for added effect( e.g. A guiro (scraper) I have put more resources in the premium section, (an animated song with instrumental parts for the non specialist and an art worksheet. These all fit with the Friendship/Sea theme. https://www.tes.co.uk/teaching-resource/a-song-about-friendship-with-percussion-parts-non-specialist-11059683

History through music. The Skye Boat Song - The escape of Bonnie Prince Charlie

The song is intended to be used as part of the study of the Jacobite rebellion or as a song to learn in the folk song genre in music. Our class are studying Great British Battles and we will use the song in that context. Examples of learning objectives are... L.O To use folk music as a historical resource or To recognize the genre of folk music. There are many objectives you could use for this beautiful song. Differentiation - There is an optional harmony I have also put up on the free section of the TES, a PowerPoint presentation about the Battle of Culloden to run in conjunction with the song. https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/history-and-music-the-battle-of-culloden-11094798 The resource here contains a video or a self running PowerPoint of the song , a copy of the lyrics and chords plus a vocal mp3 and a backing track. With this traditional song resource you can choose what to teach and what you feel comfortable with so it suits both non specialist and those a bit more adventurous . In some cases you can give the melody line to a child who is taking music lessons to extend them . If you would like to add accompaniments, the children can hear where they come in the video/recordings and copy them. The history of the song and brass bands are introduced. A YouTube link is provided but if you are not allowed to use you-tube, I have put an audio clip there.. I've also added some little creative ideas in the teaching aide. Children using these resources will be able to 1. Look at the notation/letter names and play simple notes on the chime bars/xylophone to accompany the song “The Happy wanderer” Extension - More able children can play melody line 2. Trace the tunes popularity from a small German choirs rendition , a hit in the 50s, to becoming popular in the Scout’s jamborees’ 3. Recognize brass band music and note that it is played all over the world. The band Playing here is from Hong Kong and the UK. 4. Learn to sing the song and copy short audio snippets. 5. Use their "ear" and try simple improvisation.

"Welcome to Shrek's fairyland" Upbeat song about the characters in the Swamp

This song with a hip hop beat welcomes you to Shrek’s home in the swamp. Living there are many folk from famous fairy stories. There is an opportunity, if you have a set of chime bars (from C to C’) to play them in descending order. If not, simply move your hands from an upright position to your side or on the floor. The idea is to feel the descent of the pitch from high to low. My children enjoyed adding movement to the song. It makes a good “party piece” for an assembly on fairy stories. Included in the resource 1. PPT lyrics music. 2. Lyrics 3. Backing track mp3 4. vocal track mp3 5. Video of the song Covers singing, playing an instrument, pitch, responding to music,

A musical story with implications for RE,song -composing and singing. Videos

This is a story on video or PowerPoint and video about a spider who wanted his own song. He listened to all the other mini beasts singing and desperately wanted his own song . The idea is to "hook" the children into making their own songs. There is a teacher's guide showing what learning objectives might be encountered. After the story, there is a follow up song using all the creature's individual songs from the story. e.g. high/low/fast/slow/voice expression etc. The story can also be used in Assembly/PHSE as an in road to "finding your voice" it would be a good starter for writing too. Included in the resource is a video PPT mp3 teachers notes

Fun with phonics. Song and movement. The “sh” digraph

The song used the words, shark, shore, and shell. It is to reinforce the digraph you have taught in the day or to introduce it. Musically, the song has short musical interludes. The child is encouraged to move the arms downwards as the music and illustrations move downwards too. (Beginnings of pitch) The worksheet uses the illustrations from the song to colour and add the words shark, shell, or just the digraph. In the resource, you will find 1 A PPT in case you wish to add your own ideas 2 A video of the song 3 A worksheet (Publisher and a photo of this in case you don’t have publisher) 4 An mp3 of the song 5 The lyrics

Fun with phonics . The ch digraph. Charlie the dinosaur

(0)
A silly song to introduce the digraph “ch”. Charlie only eats food that begins with “ch”. The words chips, chops and cheese are used. Then when children have learned the song, they can substitute those words for other “ch” words. E.g Chicken, chives, chard, cherries, chili, chocolate, chick peas. “Charlie the dinosaur had a chicken for lunch.” They could go really silly and find non-food words for Charlie to eat .E.g “Charlie the dinosaur had a child for lunch” etc. Resource includes 1. A PPT of the song should you wish to add to it. 2. A video of the song 3. An mp3 of the song 4. A worksheet to colour Charlie and" feed him" with ch digraphs. (Publisher) 5. The lyrics
