Thermal Decomposition of Limestone

(2)
Lesson I used with a low/middle ability year 10 group about thermal decomposition of limestone and other metal carbonates.\nIncludes a code breaker activity where students had to decode answers around the room! Worked well, and made the topic slightly more exciting :) Has a differentiated worksheet for writing equations for this topic too.

Polymers Lesson with competitive worksheet

(2)
This worked really well with my year 10 class! \nThe mindmap was fab! Got students into groups of 3-4 and I had to sign off each task when it was done in the square. I made each member of the group explain it to me before I signed it off so I could see they really understood it. It also got a real sense of competition going!

Horse Meat Discussion Lesson

(0)
Horse meat is the hot topic at the moment, so I used this for half of one of my lessons to discuss how Science is linked with this scandal!\nStudents got a character card and had to take on that role and their opinion as to whether all meat should be tested or not.\nWorked BRILLIANTLY, had some excellent high level discussion! I used it with year 8 but I think it's suitable for all age groups with adaptions!

How Energy From Respiration Is Used

This was a fab, jam-packed lesson! At the start I got pupils jogging on the spot to music to look at the difference in pulse rate before and after exercise. In the middle there is also an opportunity for pupils to practice the '6 mark questions&'.\nTake a look and leave some feedback!
