Based on an Advent Calender a set of 25 questions to help embed / review Textiles knowledge; made this for my year 10’s and they loved it and really engaged with it.
It was set as close to the 1st of December as a piece of homework, to be handed back in after the xmas holiday. They wrote their answers on lined paper, that we then reviewed as a class in the New Year. Highest Scores won a prize.
Pupils were encouraged to research any answers they weren’t sure about - to promote a higher score.

Active whole class revision activity, the slides have x60 matching pairs of textile terminology, equipment, processes and techniques.
The powerpoint is fully editable, on each slide there are two matching pairs.
My year 10 & 11 classes have loved this start to a lesson, it’s a great way to energise the class when energy is low.
Before the class I layout around the room/workbenches / table half of the pairs; I usually put a small amout of blutac under them to keep them in place.Have a a little bit of space around them to allow the class to get in and look at them. I then divide the remaining cards by the number of pupils in the class.** [I would sort the cards to diferentiate for the more able and SEND]**
As the pupils enter the room I would hand them their bundle of cards.
I explain to the class we are playing matching pairs, and they will be looking to find the match for the cards they have. As they are placing the cards, I circulate checking the answers taking off any that are incorrect and giving the card back to the pupil to try again.
When the cards are all placed we walk around the room together checking the pairs and I will ask additional questions on that topic as we go.
The pupils are asked to make a note of the pairs they weren’t sure of, to enable them to revise that topic.
Two blank callout shapes slides at the end of the powerpoint so you can develop and add in your own.
Matching pairs could also be used in a classroom display.

This will help focus them on Quality Control outcomes in this and future makes.
Summative Assessment Sheet - linked to GCSE 1-9 making grade criteria. This could be self / peer / teacher assessment. Learning Objectives of techniques are listed, I use this to highlight areas not achieved so the pupil can see in ‘pupil speak’ what they could do to further develop their work.
The supporting worksheets are proven in my past pupils NEA to develop their skills to be able to be successful. The scaffolding of the sheets allows pupil to record their written content without it feeling like an onerous written task.
Knowlege Organiser - Editable if you don’t resist dye the tye dye fabric and need to change the keywords.
