Place your bets. A fun grammar game to revise tenses

A very fun and straightforward game for the whole class to have fun with. Perfect to use as revision before exams. Students don’t need plastic tokens as long as they keep a tally of their points - a good idea is for them to swap papers with another team to mark each others’ answers (avoids cheating) and then report back to the teacher who can add / deduct points from each team after every round is complete. There is a suggestion on each stage of the game on how much students are able to bet and their minimum spend, but you can easily adapt this. The quiz covers: regular present tense verbs irregular 1st person present tense verbs fully irregular present tense verbs stem-changing verbs (present tense) regular preterite tense verbs irregular preterite tense verbs near future tense verbs

A resource consisting of 128 sentences in total for students to translate into both languages. An activity I do before they sit their exams in June so that they recap key vocabulary at the same time they identify gaps in their learning. These can be presented to the students as ‘fancy sentences’ that they should be using in their speaking and writing to hit the top band marks, as many of them contain nice structures our students should be using. Theme A - 24 sentences Theme B - 24 sentences Theme C - 26 sentences Theme D - 26 sentences Theme E - 28 sentences
