The PPT presentation is the main resource. The idea is for students to practice their timeline skills and how to extract relevant information from a textbook or PDF. This lesson works best if you have a textbook that the students can use to gather important dates. If needed, you can you the PDFs with dates and important figures. This is lesson 1 and the War of the Roses Timeline Lesson is lesson 2. Lesson 2 is free.

This lesson serves as an introduction to the Jacobites and how symbolism is used by them to export their message of rebellion. The main task is to understand and create a symbol for Jacobite. usage or you could insert Jacobite images and have student analyse the imagery for the symbolism they have just uncovered. There are info and activity sheets for them to complete. I gained a round of applause from a class after getting the bulk of this done in an interview lesson that lasted 30 minutes. The students continued to work on it after I left! There is enough here for TWO lessons if you have not covered symbolism or any aspect of the Jacobites before.

We all know what an elevator pitch is. Here I have adapted them to History. But you have bought the original so do what you will ;) Have your students complete one as an activity, starter, plenary or even a homework. This is a good coda lesson after you have taught about the Abolitionists and the End of Slavery in Great Britain. It makes use of the song as evidence and frames the factors behind abolition in a different light. Yes, this could be a fun lesson. After my class tackles a few sources and see what the author was trying to do we move onto the famous Keep Calm Poster. This is planned out in class and the students finish it for homework. The mini-lesson leads you straight to the Keep Calm Task. The lesson could be extended into two lessons if you want to explore propaganda in greater detail.
