The lesson was designed for a Top set year 9 class but can be used for a Year 10/11 class. The lesson focused on learning about the Tomatina festival but all practising reading and writing skills. - The lesson starts with focus on key vocabulary. - Then a revision of the imperfect tense and the conditional tense. This includes students categorising verbs and conjugating. - This prepares students to complete the reading and translation activity (great prep for the new GCSE!) Students translate both into English and Spanish. There is a more challenging text included for the very able students. The PowerPoint includes answers for the translation and students can be awarded points for each correct sentence based on difficulty. I allowed students to work in groups of 4, but that can be flexible based on the type of class you have. There is a video link and questions included. The video is a great way to get students hooked at the start of the lesson or it can be watched as a reward and summary at the end of the lesson.
