Christmas Reading and Writing PowerPoint - 109 slide PP lesson that encourages students to read Christmas-theme words and sentences. Students are encouraged to say the sounds and blend them to read the word accurately. This also includes spelling and writing tasks. Look at the picture and write the word. Click the mouse (or space bar) and the word appears. Finally, look at the picture and generate your own sentence. Alternatively, the teacher can say a sentence (just like phonic dictation) and the students can write it.

the-ladybird-who-heard An interactive PowerPoint SHOW that students play in the form of a search and reveal. Questions to be used for the story ‘What the ladybird heard’ by Julia Donaldson.
Comprehension questions are given and students press the star to reveal the answers. When the student has seen the three answers to choose from, they press the correct answer button. Correct answers lead them to the next question. Incorrect questions take them back to read the question again.
This is a nice game to play with the whole class to check for understanding. Also, a great exit game. I have tried this with my own Year One class and they have loved playing this. You can extend the questions by asking students to explain why they selected their answers.
