In this resource children will learn about Viking jewellery. They will explore what it was made of, why it was made and take a look at the popular patterns and motifs that Vikings used in their designs. Children will then design their own Viking style brooch before turning it into a 3D version made from clay or salt dough. They will then review their work. This resource is aimed at KS2 level (years 4, 5 and 6). I have successfully used this full resource several times however if you are looking for something that takes less time children could just watch the presentation and then design a brooch without making it.

This resource introduces children to the artwork of living, British artist Ruth Allen. Ruth Allen creates drawings of ordinary buildings using a technique called ‘continuous line’. This resource includes three presentations: An introduction to the artist Activity 1- learn and practice using the continuous line technique Activity 2- Create an artwork in the style of Ruth Allen I have successfully used this activity with years 4,5 and 6 but it could easily be used with other age groups too. This resource is good for using with architecture themed topics and for teaching/ developing drawing skills.

This Autumn leaf art activity will get children to develop their colouring and cutting skills and teach them about ‘warm colours’. Children will first colour in printed leaves, then cut them out and finally glue them to a ring template to create a beautiful Autumn leaf wreath that can be hung on a door or wall. This resource includes- Printed leaves to colour Printed ring templates large sized leaves I have also included large printable leaves as an alternative option. I have found that some children prefer to do one single leaf rather than lots of smaller ones. I have successfully used this activity with years 1 and 2 and also with Early years groups.
