This weekend helps pupils prepare for their end of year reading exam. It covers the environment and school GCSE topics. Activities include match-up activities, translation into English, reading comprehension practice. This is ideal for a revision lesson, cover work or home-work.

PRINT CROSSWORD A3 SIZE AND IT PRINTS FINE - PHOTO INCLUDED TO SHOW LAYOUT ONCE PRINTED This crossword is the perfect end of year challenge for KS3 Spanish. The crossword is A3 size and includes 98 across words and 100 down words - which means it is HUGE! My Year 7’s did this recently and absolutely loved it! It’s a great way of rounding off the year and recapping everything done in Year 7. Of course, this crossword can be given to KS4 classes too as quick revision of basic vocabulary. This resource could be used in the classroom or could be set as homework to complete over the summer holidays. It took me a long time to make this, but I would say it’s been well worth it - my pupils have really enjoyed completing it!! :D

This worksheet is ideal cover work for a GCSE (lower ability) class currently studying the topic of sport and exercise. Tasks include unjumbling key vocabulary, translating from Spanish into English, categorising adjectives and comprehending writting text about sports. This worksheet should take about 30 -40 minutes to complete (depending on the ability of the class).

This powerpoint presentation (33 slides) and accompanying worksheets (10) contains enough resources to cover at least 4 lessons on the topic of sports at GCSE level. The activities included in this bundle aim at developing reading comprehension skills, translation skills and writing skills on the topic of sport and exercise. The activities included in the ppt involve reading, listening, translation, writing and speaking. Grammar includes comparative phrases and superlative phrases, as well as adjective agreements.

This lesson focuses on the topic of technology and encourages students to give high-level opinions of different technological devices. Grammar wise, students will cover ‘LO’ phrases (eg. lo bueno es que…) and the subjunctive. This lesson is suitable for high ability groups who are aiming for grade 7-9 at GCSE as the tasks are quite challenging. Skills included are: reading, listening, translation & speaking.

This is a fun revision lesson for Year 10 or 11. It consists of a series of activities which aim to recap key GCSE grammar and vocabulary. In order to ‘crack the code’, students must complete 9 activities. Each activity will provide students with a code word. Once all 9 activities are correctly completed, they will have 9 code words from which to form a sentence in Spanish. They will then have to translate this sentence into English to crack the code. Worksheet and accompanying powerpoint included. I did this recently with my Year 10 class and they absolutely loved it!

Christmas in different countries of the world! This powerpoint explains some of the interesting Christmas traditions that exist in different countries around the world. The powerpoint is in Spanish and there are a number of activities (reading, writing, gap-fill etc) to help build GCSE exam skills. This lesson also includes a section on the Spanish New Year tradition of ‘las uvas de la suerte’ in which students express their desires & wishes for the new year.

This lesson covers revision activities which relate to the Year 8 NCELP course. The powerpoint includes activities on the following areas: AR, ER and IR verbs in the present tense. Irregular present tense verbs (voy, doy). AR, ER and IR verbs in the preterite tense. The difference between the present tense of ‘ir’ and the near future tense. The different uses of SER and ESTAR. This worksheet is designed to drill the Top 10 most useful verbs for GCSE Spanish. These verbs can be used when writing or speaking about a range of different topics so, if students learn these top 10 verbs, they will be able to get a good grade in their writing and speaking exams. There are a mix of regular and irregular verbs, in the ‘I’ form. The different tenses included are: present, preterite, imperfect, near future, proper future and conditional.

Students will learn what the subjunctive is, phrases which trigger the subjunctive and also how to form subjunctive verbs (regular and irregular). This is the perfect lesson for students who are aiming for a grade 7 and above at GCSE level and who already have a good grasp of the present tense in Spanish.

This booklet could be used in class alongside teacher-led explanations etc or it could be given to students as homework over a period of time. It could also be used as an extra revision resource for students. There is enough content in this booklet (16 pages) to cover a series of lessons. I used this resource with my own Year 11s recently and it has massively improved their Spanish writing skills! :)
