About Aureus School
Welcome to Aureus School, Didcot's only co-educational 11-16 comprehensive school. We opened our £19 million state of the art building in September 2017 in the Great Western Park and have been expanding our team each year.
Aureus School is a highly ambitious secondary school with a rigorous approach to academic standards. We are ambitious for educational success for all our learners. We collaborate with local stakeholders, such as Oxford University, Culham Science Centre and the Harwell Innovation Centre, creating choice for the wider community in Southern Oxfordshire.
Our mission is simple: We will instil courage, ambition and resilience in every student to empower them to achieve greatness as a global citizen through a combined drive for excellence.

Our Town
Whatever your job, the environment you are in makes a massive difference to the quality of your life. Didcot town is known for its railway museum and power stations, and is the gateway town to the Science Vale: three large science and technology centres in surrounding villages including Milton Park, Culham Science Centre and Harwell Science and Innovation Campus which includes the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory. The UK government named Didcot a garden town in 2015, the first existing town to gain this status, providing funding to support sustainable and environmentally friendly town development over the coming 15 years.
Didcot is noted for its railway heritage and has excellent links to Oxford, Reading and London. With it’s growing population, fantastic transport links and accessibility to the science centres, Didcot is a great place to work.
Our closest city, Oxford, has one of the fastest growing populations in the UK and remains the most ethnically diverse area in Oxfordshire county. The influx of migrant labour to the car plants and hospitals, recent immigration from south Asia, and a large student population, have given Oxford a notably cosmopolitan character and it is one of the most diverse small cities in Britain.
Our School
We are a growing community and career prospects at Aureus are exciting. We currently have several professional development opportunities taken up by staff at all stages of their careers. Examples of the type of professional development include working towards Lead Practitioner, NPQSL and NPQH status. Subject specific professional development is a high priority and staff are encouraged to look outwards towards best practice.
Through the GLF Schools Teaching School Alliance we also have regular opportunities for collaboration, professional learning, leadership development and national accreditation.
Staff at Aureus enjoy coming to work and it is truly welcoming and cheerful here, the quality of relationships with colleagues is a very attractive feature of the school. We are passionate about creating a culture of wellbeing where all staff and students are valued and supported so that we can all ‘Grow, Learn and Flourish’.

Location
Working within the Aureus team offers an exciting experience that is different to those on offer from a well-established school. I have had the privilege of joining Aureus as an NQT and progressing to Head of Faculty. The team here at Aureus are fantastic - like nothing I have experienced in any other job. The team are supportive of each other and hold the students’ best interests at the heart of everything they do.
