Caldew School

Caldew School is a popular, rural 11-18 mixed comprehensive school situated south of the city of Carlisle with a catchment area that extends to the fringe of the Lake District. We have 1000 pupils on roll including Sixth Form.

We have a good and improving track record of achievement at all examination levels, good resources and facilities and a rich programme of visits and extra-curricular activities.

Our Ofsted inspection in June 2022 graded Caldew as ‘good. However, we are not complacent and we know that there are areas where we need to do better.

This is an exciting time to join Caldew School.  We have had a significant investment from the Story Group of companies that is enabling us to improve our facilities, provide high quality professional development for our staff and give our students opportunities, experiences and support that will raise their aspirations and achievement.
