About De Lacy Primary School
De Lacy Primary School is a one and half form entry primary. We strive to provide pupils with a safe and caring school environment, which encourages them to widen their horizons to become the best they can be.
De Lacy sits within a close community within Pontefract and we have built strong and positive relationships with parents, carers, and families. Our dedicated team believe that strong relationships between school and home is the key to success.
We have a broad and well-sequenced curriculum that encourages pupils to excel in a range of subject areas and to develop new skills. At the end of their time at De Lacy, our team hope that our pupils will have developed a genuine passion for learning whilst having lots of fun along the way.
Headteacher, Mr James Parkinson, is Gold Winner for Headteacher of the Year in a Primary School in the prestigious 2025 Pearson National Teaching Awards.

De Lacy Primary School achieved outstanding in all five judgement areas in their Ofsted inspection in March 2024.
2025 Edurio Staff Survey
Pontefract Academies Trust has been recognised with the Trust Value Award - Excellence in the 2025 Edurio Awards - placing us among the top 10 performing trusts nationally, based on staff feedback.
De Lacy Primary School received fantastic results in the survey, with 95% of staff saying they would recommend the school as a good place to work, significantly higher than the national benchmark of 73%.
98% of staff also shared that they would recommend De Lacy Primary School to parents as a good place for their children to study.
We are proud to have won a regional award for the Trust Benefit School Award. This award recognises the school in each region whose community is most confident that being part of their Trust is beneficial, recognising excellence at the school level.
