About Esher Church of England High School
Our mission at Esher C of E High School is that every student will grow in character, spirit, knowledge and skills, mindful of their part in God’s creation. We strive for excellence in all that we do, in academic performance as well as personal development, in order that students and staff will fulfill their potential and be ready for future opportunities.
We will provide an environment that enables everyone to work together in an atmosphere of mutual respect, openness and trust.
Our Aim and Values
At Esher Church of England High School, our aim is to ensure that each student leaves with excellent qualifications, rich experiences and a growth mindset that will equip them to take their place as responsible and successful citizens in the wider world. Promoting excellence in all aspects of school life and fostering spiritual, cultural and moral awareness within a Christian ethos, we aim to encourage all of our students to develop as independent and co-operative learners. Through developing students’ personal and social skills, we hope to prepare them as self-confident and highly motivated people who go on to succeed in whatever field they choose.
Our values are rooted in those of the Church of England’s for all church schools, but interpreted for our own unique setting and students.
These are:
- Educating for wisdom, knowledge and skills
- Educating for hope and aspiration
- Educating for community and living well together
- Educating for dignity and respect
As a Church of England School, our relationship with the Diocese of Guildford is essential. Not only does it help support our moral purpose, but it’s family of schools gives us a significant network from which we can grow leaders, encourage new members to the profession, and build on the strengths of individuals and teams within our community.
Enlighten Learning Trust (ELT) was formed as a Multi Academy Trust following the conversion of Esher Church of England High School to an academy in 2014. As a Trust, ELT aims to develop a vibrant partnership of non-selective primary and secondary schools, all united in one goal to provide the best possible learning experience and environment not only for our current children but also for the next generation of pupils.

“They are more than just teachers of individual subjects: They are people who showed me how to live and give great respect and patience to others.
- Former Year 11 StudentStudents are clear about the importance of values as part of the life of the school and articulate with conviction the contribution they make to their learning and personal development. A strong element of this is justice and fairness in how we treat others regardless of background and the need to understand a diverse range of faiths and cultures.
- SIAMS Report 2015Choosing a secondary school for our daughter was the most nerve-wracking decision. As soon as she started at Esher High School, we knew that we had made the right decision; it’s been fantastic watching her flourish.
- ParentStudents’ behaviour in lessons and around the school is frequently exemplary. Their extremely positive attitudes to learning are demonstrated in high levels of engagement in lessons. Students are a credit to themselves, their parents and their teachers. During their time at school, students develop into extremely well rounded young people. They value their teachers who ‘really help, support us, stay behind after school and genuinely care about our grades.
