Formby High School is a heavily oversubscribed 11–18 comprehensive academy with 1,150 students, including a thriving Sixth Form of over 250. We are a school with a strong reputation for inclusion and academic success, a clear vision and a vibrant culture rooted in the school motto 'determined to achieve'.

A Strong and Successful School

Our most recent Ofsted inspection (November 2022) judged Formby High School to be Good in all areas, praising students who are “inspired to succeed” and “proud to attend their school”. Academic outcomes are consistently excellent, with the vast majority of students achieving strong GCSE  and A-Level results and progressing to high quality destinations.

We are proud to have been recognised regionally and nationally for our achievements in inclusion, the arts and sport, including being named Tes ‘Inclusive School of the Year’ (2023).

We believe in nurturing every student’s talent. Our curriculum is broad, ambitious and taught by subject specialists who bring both knowledge and enthusiasm to their teaching. Our extensive extracurricular offer (FHSxtra), including performing arts, competitive sport, Duke of Edinburgh, community projects and a wide range of educational visits, helps students develop confidence, character and curiosity.

Situated in the leafy surroundings of Formby, our campus blends traditional buildings with modern, specialist facilities—including a purpose built Sixth Form Centre, well-resourced creative arts spaces, refurbished sports and dining facilities, and continually updated ICT provision. We benefit from excellent transport links, with rail, bus and motorway access making the school easily commutable from Liverpool, Southport, Preston and Manchester.
