Huddersfield Grammar School is one of the leading independent schools in West Yorkshire. It is set in beautiful woodland surroundings and a warm, kind and purposeful feel permeates the whole community.

As a co-educational, all-through school, we pride ourselves on our dedication to developing the whole child every bit as much as our strong examination results, and encourage our students to be future-focused, to aim high in all they do, and to make the most of the breadth of opportunities offered to them.

Attentive pastoral care lies at the heart of our success and we go to great lengths to ensure that every child feels valued, enjoys school life and achieves more than they thought possible. With no more than 20 pupils in a class, learning is individualised to meet every child’s needs, and our modern facilities boast the latest technology.

We believe that children achieve academic excellence when they are happy, inspired and excited by their learning every day. So whilst our teachers have the highest expectations, they also want the children to have fun, to provoke an emotional response to the subject and to have a sense of awe in the extraordinary world in which they live. And so they combine academic rigour with relentless creativity in the way that they teach, knowing that an engaged child is best placed to truly excel.

Our comprehensive range of extra-curricular clubs and activities range for ballet to the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, our sports teams rival the best schools in the region and regular drama and music productions are staged for all ages. One-in-four of our children learn a musical instrument, and a nature trail, Forest School space and mud kitchen ensure that our youngest pupils can explore the natural world freely in a safe learning environment.

Huddersfield Grammar currently caters for over 520 pupils between the ages of 3-16 and has enjoyed impressive growth in recent years. In 2007, the school became part of the Cognita Group, a global education partnership of 67 schools across Europe, Latin America and South East Asia, and has enjoyed over £3.5m investment into new facilities.
