About International School of Berne
The International School of Berne is a day school accredited by the Council of International Schools and the New England Association of Schools and Colleges. It provides an education in English for children of over 50 nationalities.
ISBerne is authorised to offer three International Baccalaureate (IB) Programmes: the Primary Years Programme (ages 3–11), the Middle Years Programme (ages 11–16) and the Diploma Programme (ages 16–19).
ISBerne offers holistic international education which promotes intercultural understanding and respect. The curriculum is broad and balanced, including a choice of German or French, as well as the arts, sciences, individuals and societies, mathematics, and P.E. Grade 5 students complete their Primary education with an Exhibition. The Middle Years Programme students culminate their educational programme with a Personal Project in Grade 10. Students choose six IB Diploma subjects to study, write an Extended Essay, follow a Theory of Knowledge Course, and complete a Community, Service and Action Programme.
The school has an English as an Additional Language programme, a Learning Support programme and a College Guidance Programme.
ISBerne offers ice skating and skiing/snowboarding Fridays during the winter months, as well as curriculum-related trips for all grades. After-school activities and sports coaching are also offered.
