About John Whitgift Academy
John Whitgift Academy is a rapidly expanding academy which is heading towards outstanding. Our student numbers are increasing year by year and we are the highest performing academy in North East Lincolnshire and are in the top 4% of the most improved academies in the country. As an academy we are continually building on our strengths and are proud to have the highest of expectations.
Our Academy
We currently have over 900 students on role aged 11 – 16. Our academy is situated close to the A180 making it ideal for commuting. Despite being one of the most rapidly growing academies in North East Lincolnshire, due, primarily to our success and outcomes over recent years, relationships between students and staff are excellent and we have maintained a small school friendly atmosphere. Behaviour in our academy is very good with a relentless focus upon learning and aspiration.
Our Facilities
In addition, we are fortunate to have some outstanding facilities that help to further enhance the quality of teaching and learning, such as, state-of-the-art Science facilities, an Engineering block, 2 full size swimming pools and a 207-seater cinema.
Proud to be "Good" Or "Outstanding" In All Areas
Our recent Ofsted inspection in June 2025 rated our academy either "Good" or "Outstanding" in all areas. The report also commented that: Leaders of the school and trust have continued to make the school a happy place to be for all. Staff at the school are proud to work there. They know that they are valued.
