WHOLE SCHOOL AIMS AND OBJECTIVES
1. Whole School Aims
1. To maintain a positive and supportive ethos where children and staff feel happy and secure as they enjoy learning in a modern and attractive environment.
2. For Lakeside to have a consistently high quality of teaching throughout the school where:-
• Good practice is recognised, shared and spread.
• The children make good progress as the teachers and support staff strive to draw the very best from each individual. • All staff work together to deliver the whole curriculum via agreed Schemes of Work.
3. For there to be high standards in all subjects, with Subject Leaders having a full picture.
4. For all staff, governors and children to feel part of the team and further develop a sense of ownership and pride in our school.
5. For Lakeside to continue to be a hive of activity with due emphasis given to curriculum enrichment via school visits, sports teams, instrument tuition, orchestra and much more.
6. For the quality of relationships, particularly between the teacher and the children as individuals, to remain at the heart of the school’s philosophy of teaching and learning.
7. For the school and parents to work in unison and to value each other’s role in the education of the children.
2. Objectives
1. For the teaching and support staff to be given the opportunity to develop professionally.
2. For there to be a culture of self evaluation and an ongoing dialogue about teaching and learning.
3. For staff and children to take pride and pleasure in their own achievements and the achievements of others.
4. For children and staff alike to further develop a sense of respect for each other valuing differences, including religious and cultural ones.
5. For staff and children alike to be motivated through praise and encouragement to achieve their very best.
6. For the children to develop pleasure in their learning, for the teachers to do likewise in their teaching (and learning), enabling them to move forward with confidence and enthusiasm to discover more.
7. To encourage children to become independent self-motivated learners, develop the ability to work co-operatively and to be involved in personal targets for learning.
8. For children with Special Needs to be effectively supported.
9. To help children develop an appreciation of talent and achievement in the Arts and Sciences and to aspire to such achievements.
10. For individuals, adult or child, to be supported by peers and colleagues when problems arise.
