About Leighton Park School

Leighton Park School is a successful, forward looking independent (HMC) day and boarding school for girls and boys aged 11-18 set in 65 acres of magnificent parkland.

Leighton Park exists to form young people of real character and confidence, with a determined desire to change the world, reflecting the school’s Quaker values. In 2023 we won Senior School of the Year in the national Independent Schools Association Awards. We were also a finalist in the Independent Senior School of the Year in the TES Schools Awards 2023.

We are a school that inspires Achievement with Values, Character and Community and academic excellence is the consequence of our approach. Valuing breadth and depth, we are distinguished by excellence in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (STEAM), Music and Ethical Enterprise. The UK Government’s latest 16-18 league tables reveal Leighton Park to be the best performing School in Berkshire and in the top 1% of English schools. We are one of only eight schools to have always appeared in the top 100.

We challenge our students to imagine a better world. We then support them to develop the character, confidence and determination to be changemakers.

What people say about us

“Working as a nurse at Leighton Park is incredibly fulfilling. I love collaborating with my dedicated colleagues, who are always supportive and passionate about providing the best care. The students are at the heart of everything we do, and it's a privilege to care for them and contribute to their well-being. Seeing their smiles and knowing that I play a part in their health and happiness makes my job truly rewarding. Together, we create a nurturing and positive environment that feels like a second home.”

- Sheryl, Business and Operations Staff

“I absolutely adore working at Leighton Park, I work with incredibly supportive colleagues who are really dedicated to supporting the students both pastorally and academically. The students are a joy to teach, I love their enthusiasm and they are incredibly polite and kind. I remember being astonished in my first term at the students thanking me at the end of every lesson, holding open doors and even offering to carry my bags! I consider myself very lucky to work in such a wonderfully caring community.”

- Sarah, Teacher

“I really love working at Leighton Park. There is a real sense of purpose here, and a real commitment to inspiring our students to imagine, and work towards, a better world. This focus draws on the impressive history of Quakers who set up forward-thinking companies like Cadbury and Rowntree that created social good. Equally important, Quakers helped found leading charities and campaigning organisations, such as Amnesty International, Greenpeace, Oxfam and the Joseph Rowntree Charitable Trust. The Park is a really beautiful place to work and it is a very friendly and supportive community. Perhaps most importantly, Oakview, the school restaurant, is amazing!

- John, Senior Leadership Team

Celebrating kindness and compassion manifesting in practical actions seems a vital part of being a student at Leighton Park. The students become a gift to the world as they are the ones who can change the world for the better just by being themselves".
