Our aims

To create a mutually supportive family of schools, sharing expertise and resources, to improve the quality of education for our children and young people.

Our values

Our central belief is “Valuing People, Supporting Personal Best” and we apply this to everybody in our organisation, staff and children alike. We try our best to support and encourage each other, we work hard at communicating effectively and we always try to achieve the very best we possibly can in the circumstances. We review our practice honestly and are always open to suggestions as to how we can improve further.

Professional development

Professional and career development is at the heart of what we do. In addition to our supportive appraisal systems, staff have access to a wide range of training and development opportunities including internal training sessions, external courses and sharing best practice across the trust.

We are extremely pleased to have the Calderdale and Kirklees Teaching School Hub based at Shelley College, delivering teacher training (ITT), the Early Career Framework (ECF) and the National Professional Qualifications.

Across our partner schools there are Subject Experts, Specialist Leaders of Education, Excellent Practitioners, trained Coaches and Mentors, as well as Outstanding Leaders offering support and training. We offer the opportunity of a career development programme that could take teachers on a journey from trainee to senior leader and beyond.

Location

We are in located in the Huddersfield/Kirklees district, with many of our schools in close proximity to a number of towns and cities including Leeds, Manchester and Sheffield. Due to the excellent road links, journey times are minimal, with many of our staff travelling from these areas on a daily basis.

Benefits

We believe in making the world a happier place to work. We do that by providing a package of flexible employee benefits, including:

• An attractive pension scheme for both Teaching and Support Staff.

• Care First – an employee assistance programme providing staff well-being support, including amongst other things: counselling, telephone helplines and stress management.

• Salary sacrifice benefit schemes - salary sacrifice enables staff to give up some of the cash value of their pay to receive other benefits which saves on tax and national insurance. The Trust currently runs the following salary sacrifice schemes:

- Cyclescheme – savings of up to 39% on the cost of a new bike.

- Techscheme – savings on the cost of desktop machines, laptops, Apple products, phones and software.

Recruitment process

Once you have completed and submitted your application form it will be reviewed by the shortlisting panel. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to interview via email, so please ensure you provide us with your email address and check it regularly after the closing date.

Referees will be contacted via email prior to interviews as references need to be returned to us before any offer of appointment can be made, for safer recruitment purposes. Please ensure you provide a contact email address for both of your referees.

And finally

Good luck in your application!

We look forward to hearing from you.
