Founded in 1847, we are an innovative, forward thinking co-educational, non-selective independent school set in a beautiful 56 acre campus in Somerset.

We employ over 600 staff in our school community, in a variety of teaching and support roles, many of whom work for us all year round.

Inspirational teaching can be seen and heard everywhere – from battle re-enactments in History, rockets launching in Design and Technology, to philosophical arguments and debates heard over lunch, and the sound of music rehearsals ringing from the Theatre. We instil a love for learning which stays with an individual throughout their life

Taunton School is set in a beautiful site in arguably one of the most attractive counties in England.

Taunton is in the heart of Somerset in the South West of England and is the area’s county town and commercial centre. The town offers an enviable lifestyle, where culture, art and community are surrounded by natural landscapes and open, public spaces. The region enjoys good weather, areas of outstanding natural beauty and a wonderful coastline.

With a fine range of high quality 19th century Gothic style buildings complemented by 20th century additions, the beautiful buildings comprise vibrant modern classrooms and specialist Arts, Music and Drama spaces. The grounds are well cared for and provide a space for students and staff alike to utilise and enjoy.

Our International Middle School is based at ‘The Grange’ in the nearby village of Kingston St Mary and is a significant historical building with stunning architectural and horticultural features. It really is a home away from home.

“The quality of pupils’ overall achievement is good, with many outstanding features. The school is very successful in preparing pupils to shape the world in the 21st century, in line with its ambitious aim. Throughout the school pupils display good, and frequently, excellent levels of understanding, knowledge and skills across all their subjects and activities. Overall, results in public examinations are good in relation to pupils’ abilities, indicating that their progress across the school is above the average for pupils of similar ability, and frequently rapid. Pupils with SEND or EAL progress well because of the support they receive.”
