About Woodmansterne School & Sixth Form

About Woodmansterne

Woodmansterne is an oversubscribed school located in the heart of Streatham Vale within a diverse and vibrant community. We are currently in our fifth year of expansion from a two-form entry primary to an age 3 – 19 all-through community school.

Woodmansterne is at very exciting stage of its development, our secondary building has recently won an award for technological architecture from CIAT and we are now working towards welcoming 6th formers.

Woodmansterne benefits from a variety of cultures and tradition; as well as celebrating our differences, we come together with shared values of cooperation, unity, respect, aspiration, responsibility and integrity. We provide an exciting, enriched educational experience for all our pupils and children develop high self-esteem, high aspirations and make excellent progress. We expect that all Woodmansterne children leave us imbued with the confidence, resilience and skills needed to prepare them for a successful and happy future.

Working closely across phases has ensured cohesion between staff, a greater understanding of effective transition and how children learn and flourish. Our children across both phases have been able to share experiences and develop a strong and united voice. It has been a pioneering journey, one that we have embraced as a community, we have learnt from each other, risen to challenges and overcome obstacles together.

Why should you come and work for us?

  • We have fantastic children and families (many schools say that, but we really do);

  • Our exciting, enriched, curriculum is pupil-centred aimed at capturing every child’s full learning potential;
  • We are committed to staff well-being and have a well-being committee who arrange book clubs, get-togethers, well-being INSETs, exercise classes and well-being activities, as well as working closely with leaders to improve staff well-being;
  • A commitment to personalised professional development and opportunities for career growth;
  • We have a cohesive, friendly, highly-skilled and passionate staff body, who are completely committed to Woodmansterne’s values and ethos;
  • Access to Cyclescheme;

Values and vision

Achieving Excellence Together.

We aim to achieve excellence together; to inspire our children and young people to be the very best version of themselves that they can be.

The Woodmansterne way is the realisation of our vision and values in daily life. Grounded in our six core values of integrity, cooperation, aspiration, respect, unity and responsibility; it is at the heart of everything we do, our way of being, our approach to life and learning. Our staff and pupils embody these values every day. It is played out in our daily routines, our assemblies, our learning, our actions and interactions and our expectations of ourselves and each other. If you visit, ask our pupils about our values, they are fiercely proud of their school’s ethos and reputation as a socially responsible, kind and inclusive community.

What people say about us

There is a clear focus on re-establishing what the school had in place pre-pandemic. So much energy, positivity, and sense of direction. The school is united in purpose and culture and ethos is strong and aligned throughout. A true all-through school in every sense

- External School Advisor (October 2021)

Pupils are happy, motivated and excited to come to school. They demonstrate excellent attitudes to learning and rise to the high expectations set for them. Attendance is high

- OFSTED (2019)

The school listens well. Not just to the parents but more importantly it listens to the children and makes decisions based on the whole schools input. It’s not an us and them school where the school management makes decisions without input from pupils and parents. It’s my first year at the school and I am so happy we got Woody as our school".

- Parent Survey (May 2021)

What I like about working at Woodmansterne: "Being in a supportive team, as a year group and as a school. Being able to contact a member of the Well-being team, and discuss my concerns, feeling listened too. But essentially, having the ability to work through a concern and come up with a solution. Also, being asked, "what can we/the school do to help? "what will make a difference at this moment?

- Staff Well-being Survey (October 2020)

What I like about working at Woodmansterne: "The team around me, the teachers I have contact with, the kids, the feeling of my work being valued.
