As part of a planned and ambitious phase of school expansion, Uppingham Cairo is pleased to invite applications for the position of Director of Studies, Senior School, from August 2026. We seek an intellectually rigorous, forward-thinking and highly accomplished academic leader who is deeply committed to scholarship, innovation and the pursuit of academic excellence. The successful candidate will bring the authority, credibility and strategic vision required to shape and advance the academic life of the Senior School and Sixth Form within a prestigious and rapidly growing British international school.
This appointment forms part of a wider strengthening of the school’s leadership structure from August 2026. A number of new senior roles are being established in order to increase leadership capacity at a time of significant growth and strategic development. As Uppingham Cairo prepares for the opening of the Sixth Form in September 2027 and for the launch of our second campus, Uppingham New Cairo, in September 2028, it is essential that the academic provision of the Senior School is underpinned by robust, ambitious and forward-looking leadership. These developments represent an important next chapter in the school’s evolution and require experienced leaders who can think strategically, build strong academic teams and embed systems that will sustain excellence as the school grows.
The Director of Studies will therefore join the school at a pivotal moment, contributing both to the present strength of the Senior School and to the careful design of its academic future. Reporting to the Head of Senior School and working closely with the Headmistress and wider leadership team, the postholder will hold strategic and operational responsibility for teaching and learning, curriculum development, assessment and academic outcomes across Years 7 to 13. The successful candidate will articulate and deliver a distinctive academic vision rooted in the intellectual character and standards associated with Uppingham, ensuring that pupils are consistently stretched, supported and inspired to achieve at the highest level.

Please note that the School will only consider candidates with British teaching qualifications (QTS or equivalent) and a minimum of 8 years teaching experience.

Uppingham Cairo was founded in 2024 and is the result of a collaboration between Uppingham School in the UK and New Era Education. In the first year of operation, the school achieved BSO Accreditation through inspection by ISI as well as COBIS and BSME Accreditation. The Schools is a member of HMC, IAPS, AGBIS and AoBSO. Uppingham Cairo has a very close affiliation to the mother school, combining the values and ethos of Uppingham with the cultural, artistic and linguistic opportunities afforded by being in such an outstanding location as Cairo.
