Head of Pre-Prep

As part of a planned and ambitious phase of school development, Uppingham Cairo is pleased to invite applications for the position of Head of Pre-Prep from August 2026. We seek an outstanding classroom practitioner and pastoral leader who is deeply committed to the wellbeing, confidence and early development of young children. The successful candidate will demonstrate warmth, consistency and excellent professional judgement, together with the organisational strength and presence required to sustain the highest standards of care, behaviour and community within the Pre-Prep phase.

This role forms part of the continued strengthening of pastoral leadership across the Junior School as Uppingham Cairo grows in size and maturity. As the school continues to expand and looks ahead to the opening of the Sixth Form in September 2027 and the launch of Uppingham New Cairo in September 2028, it is essential that strong foundations are established from the earliest years. The Pre-Prep plays a central role in this journey, shaping pupils’ first experiences of school and establishing the habits, attitudes and sense of security that underpin future academic and personal success.

The Head of Pre-Prep will play a key role in ensuring that pupils from Foundation Stage 1 to Year 2 experience a calm, purposeful and nurturing environment in which they feel secure, supported and known as individuals. Working closely with the Deputy Head (Pastoral), Junior School, and under the guidance of the Head of Junior School and wider pastoral team, the postholder will provide day-to-day leadership of behaviour, conduct and wellbeing across the Pre-Prep phase. The successful candidate will support colleagues in maintaining consistent expectations, foster strong and positive relationships with families and ensure that pastoral care reflects the high standards and values associated with Uppingham Cairo.

Please note that the School will only consider candidates with British teaching qualifications (QTS or equivalent) and a minimum of 4 years teaching experience.

Uppingham Cairo was founded in 2024 and is the result of a collaboration between Uppingham School in the UK and New Era Education.
