As part of a planned and ambitious phase of school development, Uppingham Cairo is pleased to invite applications for the position of Head of Learning Enhancement from August 2026. We seek an experienced and thoughtful practitioner who is deeply committed to inclusive academic excellence and to ensuring that all pupils are appropriately supported and challenged in their learning. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong professional judgement, intellectual rigour and the organisational clarity required to lead learning enhancement provision across a high-performing British international school.
This appointment forms part of the continued strengthening of academic leadership as Uppingham Cairo grows in scale and ambition. As the school looks ahead to the opening of the Sixth Form in September 2027 and to the launch of Uppingham New Cairo in September 2028, it is essential that provision for pupils requiring additional support or stretch is coherent, rigorous and aligned with the expectations of a leading British independent school. The Head of Learning Enhancement will play a central role in ensuring that all pupils are able to access the curriculum fully and achieve highly.
Reporting to the Director of Studies and working closely with the Deputy Head (Academic), Junior School and Heads of School, the Head of Learning Enhancement will lead a whole-school approach to learning support and extension. The postholder will oversee processes for identifying pupils who may require additional support or academic stretch, ensure that provision is proportionate and effective and support teachers in developing classroom practice that enables all pupils to succeed. The role includes responsibility for maintaining a clear overview of pupils receiving support, advising colleagues on inclusive and adaptive teaching strategies and ensuring that provision reflects best practice in leading British independent schools.
Working in partnership with the Master of Scholars, the successful candidate will also promote appropriate stretch for high-attaining pupils and contribute to the development of scholarship and extension opportunities across the school. The role requires close and professional engagement with parents and, where appropriate, external specialists, ensuring clarity and confidence in the support provided.
The Head of Learning Enhancement will contribute to a culture of high expectations, thoughtful support and academic ambition across the school. While responsibility for pupil progress remains with class and subject teachers, this role is central in guiding and supporting colleagues to ensure that provision is consistent, manageable and effective.

Please note that the School will only consider candidates with British teaching qualifications (QTS or equivalent) and a minimum of 4 years teaching experience.

Uppingham Cairo was founded in 2024 and is the result of a collaboration between Uppingham School in the UK and New Era Education. In the first year of operation, the school achieved BSO Accreditation through inspection by ISI as well as COBIS and BSME Accreditation. The School is a member of HMC, IAPS, AGBIS and AoBSO.
