Mamoura British Academy is currently seeking an inspirational Farm to Fork Teacher for the 2025-2026 academic year. This is a through school roll, we would welcome applicants from Primary, Secondary Science or Secondary DT Teachers.

Mamoura British Academy is a British curriculum school with a Lower, Middle and Senior School model located in a state of the art building in the heart of Abu Dhabi. This unique position aims to educate students about sustainable agriculture, food production, and environmental stewardship aligned to Sheikh Zayed's legacy. The successful candidate will integrate the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into the curriculum, emphasizing environmental action and responsible consumption. This role involves developing hands-on learning experiences in our unique learning environments, fostering an understanding and passion of the food cycle from cultivation to consumption.

A. Curriculum Development and Implementation
. Design and implement a comprehensive Farm to Fork curriculum that aligns with the Greening Education Framework, SDGs and the school's educational objectives.
. Create lesson plans that cater to a wide age range, from early years to senior students, ensuring age-appropriate learning experiences.
. Incorporate interdisciplinary teaching methods, linking farm to fork concepts with science, humanities, social studies, and environmental education.

B. Sustainable Agriculture and Gardening
. Oversee the school's volunteering initiatives in conjunction with Ma'an and Gracia Farms and any other relevant entities.
. Oversee the maintenance and development of the school gardens, greenhouse, biodome and aeroponics units involving students in all aspects of planting, cultivating, and harvesting.
. Teach students about sustainable farming practices, soil health, composting, and biodiversity.
. Coordinate with local farms and agricultural experts to enhance the learning experience and provide real-world context.

C. Food Production and Culinary Skills
. Educate students on the process of transforming raw ingredients into nutritious meals, emphasizing local and seasonal produce.
. Conduct cooking classes that teach basic culinary skills, food safety, and the importance of a balanced diet.
. Promote farm-to-table principles, encouraging students to understand and appreciate the origins of their food.

D. Environmental Stewardship and SDGs Integration
. Embed the principles of Sheikh Zayed's legacy and the SDGs into the farm to fork program, focusing on goals such as zero hunger, responsible consumption and production, climate action, and life on land.
. Lead environmental initiatives and projects within the school, such as waste reduction programs, recycling campaigns, and energy conservation efforts.
. Foster a culture of environmental responsibility among students, encouraging them to take action in their communities.

E. Community Engagement and Partnerships:
. Oversee existing industry partnerships and pursue new partnerships with local farms, agricultural organizations, and environmental groups to support the program and provide experiential learning opportunities.
. Organize events, workshops, and field trips that connect students with the broader community and local food systems.
. Engage parents and the wider school community in farm to fork activities, promoting awareness and involvement in sustainable practices.
. Work with The Alliance for Sustainable Schools to ensure our commitment to improving Transportation, School Food, School Uniform and School Buildings.
. Complete, when required, the eco-green flag application.

F. Professional Development and Continuous Improvement
. Stay updated with the latest trends and best practices in sustainable agriculture, food education, and environmental action.
. Attend professional development workshops and conferences to enhance skills and knowledge.
. Reflect on and assess the effectiveness of the program, making improvements based on feedback and evolving educational standards.

G. Student Guidance and Support
. To set a positive tone of high expectations, encouraging involvement in the sustainable action extra -curricular opportunities.
. To oversee the work of the student sustainability ambassadors.


Minimum Qualifications:
. Bachelor's degree in Education

Minimum Experience:
. Experience in teaching or working with students across a broad age range

About Mamoura British Academy

Al Mamoura Academy is a partly co-educational international school located in Abu Dhabi, first accepting an intake of students in 2016. The school has primary and secondary areas, with the school’s primary division being co-educational and secondary being girls-only. As a newly built school, Al Mamoura Academy is able to boast of a huge range of modern teaching and recreational facilities, such as an auditorium, a swimming pool, numerous sports courts and halls, as well as a fully equipped library and extensive IT facilities. The curriculum at Al Mamoura Academy is primarily based on the English curriculum in primary phases, whilst secondary phases offer a wider range of international qualifications including GCSEs and A-level studies as well as a US Curriculum pathway. The school also offers Arabic and Islamic studies programmes should students wish to study them. In addition to this, the school has a wide range of extra-curricular activities available for students to take part in.
