Exeter School is the leading co-educational day school in the Southwest, educating over 1,000 pupils aged 3-18. We are looking to appoint a Director of Learning and Teaching to join our school, a school of great character. This new senior leadership post is available from September 2024.
The appointed person will be a dynamic and enthusiastic individual, a gifted teacher, able to motivate pupils and staff alike to ensure that learning and teaching at Exeter School is excellent, evolving and reflective. They will be an innovative practitioner, a creative thinker, a confident leader and an able organiser who will carry out their duties with professionalism and a caring attitude towards pupils and staff. They will be ambitious and will see this role as a steppingstone to deputy headship. This is a new post and an exciting opportunity to lead on academic matters, further develop the excellent learning and teaching within the school and be a part of the school’s senior leadership team, contributing to the school’s strategic direction and working with governors. The postholder will have a significantly reduced teaching timetable, potentially in any subject area.
Applicants will hold a degree-level qualification relevant to their subject area and a suitable teaching qualification (PGCE / B.Ed.). Applicants will have the knowledge and confidence to lead, inspire, develop and implement strategic plans as well as the ability to work as part of a team and to successfully develop and manage staff.
