Job overview

The Ferrers School is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic English teacher to join the leadership structure within the English Department. We are looking for a creative, passionate and energetic teacher who can work alongside the Curriculum Leader and Deputy Curriculum Leader as we strive to bring about rapid improvement to secure better progress for our learners.

The successful candidate will be a highly committed team player, with a true passion for English and an understanding of the strategies required to motivate and inspire students. They will play a part in promoting the subject throughout the school.

Staff in the department are welcoming and supportive; it is that sense of ‘team’ that we feel gives every student the best opportunity for success. The English staff currently consists of professionals at all stages of their careers, including: a vice principal, a a senior tutor and lead practitioner.

This is an exciting time to be joining the the school. We have secured improving outcomes over the last 3 years which were validated in our recent Ofsted report (July 2021) where The Ferrers School was found to be 'Good' in all areas. These five areas are: ‘The Quality of Education’, ‘Behaviour and Attitudes’, ‘Personal Development’, ‘Leadership and Management’, and ‘Sixth Form Provision’.

The Ferrers School is a mainstream secondary academy for children aged 11-18. It is situated in Higham Ferrers, Northamptonshire, and there are just under 1,000 pupils on its roll.
