Role: Therapy Assistant

Location: The Springfields Academy, Curzon Street, Calne, Wiltshire, SN11 0DS

FTE Salary Range: £30,559 - £32,654 per annum pro rata

Actual Salary: £22,968 - £24,543 per annum

Contract Type: Permanent, part-time, term-time only (39 weeks per year)

Contract Hours: 31.25 per week, Monday to Friday

About the role

Under the direction of the Head of Therapy, the Therapy Assistant will provide therapeutic support to all students. You will promote and model therapeutic practice throughout the school, embedding practice; deliver one-to-one and group sessions as directed by Therapists to ensure that students are receiving high quality input, ensuring that they are developing the skills needed to lead safe independent life’s; complete additional duties to support the therapy team, as directed by the Head of Therapy.

  • A Therapy Assistant with good knowledge and understanding of autism and social communication needs and appropriate communication strategies to support pupils with this need

  • The confidence and skills to build positive relationships that help to break down barriers and build self-esteem
  • A commitment to enabling all our pupils to overcome their challenges and achieve their potential


About the School

The Springfields Academy is a Reach South Academy for young people aged 4-19 with autism. We have 250 pupils attending our Calne site . Our goal is to build safe independent lives for autistic young people through support, understanding and enablement.

We aspire to build safe independent lives for autistic young people through support, understanding and enablement. Additionally, we hold the National Autistic Society Advanced specialist award and are recognised as an Ofsted good school.

We are an acknowledged centre of excellence for Autism; we are highly reflective in our practices, and are continually working to improve our provision and practices. We provide a personalised curriculum journey that enables leaners with a diagnosis of autism to develop skills in areas of need and to overcome their barriers to learning. The drive to build ‘safe Independent lives’ shapes this curriculum and everything else that we do.

About The Springfields Academy

The Springfields Academy aims to be the leading school for autistic learners within the South West. We are based at a well-equipped and spacious site in Calne, North Wiltshire. We are Ofsted rated 'Good' (March 2022) and hold Advanced Accreditation with The National Autistic Society (June 2022). Over 95% of our current cohort have a diagnosis of Autism. All students have the potential to access a primary/secondary curriculum and we support them to do so.

This is an exciting time to join Springfields as we grow from 210 young people on roll to 250 in September 2024. Coinciding with this is the launch of a brand new classroom block, ensuring our learners and staff have access to the resources they need.
