Job overview

The Learn Academy (TLA) is seeking a passionate, high-caliber educator to join our small, tight-knit team. We are a unique sixth form college in Barcelona, offering the British Curriculum to students in their final two years of school. At TLA, we pride ourselves on delivering a high-quality education, rooted in academic excellence, within a supportive and vibrant community where every student is recognised, valued, and encouraged to achieve their full potential.

We’re looking for a teacher who shares our commitment to academic rigour and is comfortable working with students at various levels—whether they are striving for the highest grades or require tailored support to reach their individual goals. If a student aims to achieve 100%, you’ll have the enthusiasm and expertise to help them get there.

Community is at the heart of everything we do at TLA. We’re not just a school; we are a family-like environment where teachers, students, and parents form strong, lasting connections. Our team of 9 educators is dedicated to fostering a culture of collaboration and mutual support, and we want someone who will become a valuable member of this close-knit community—someone who is not only invested in teaching but also in contributing ideas and helping shape the school’s identity and growth.

With small class sizes (average of 9 students, maximum of 15), teachers at TLA can provide individualised attention and truly engage with each student’s learning journey.

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Thrives in a community-focused environment, and actively contributes to the school’s development and sense of togetherness.
  • Considers themselves an excellent teacher with a genuine passion for their subject and a desire to inspire students to reach their full academic potential.
  • Embraces high academic standards and takes pride in helping students achieve top grades, while also enjoying the challenge of supporting students at all levels.
  • Is open to continual learning and professional development, and values growing alongside colleagues and students.

The Role:

  • January 2025 start: Part-time (0.5 contract) teaching A Level Business.
  • September 2025 start: Full-time teaching A Level Business and Economics.
  • We use the Pearson Edexcel International A Level curriculum

What You’ll Bring:

  • A teaching qualification.
  • Minimum of 2 years' classroom experience.
  • GCSE and/or A Level experience (we welcome those with GCSE experience who are eager to explore the A Level curriculum).
  • We also consider candidates with American Diploma or IB experience who are willing to learn and deliver the British curriculum.
  • Currently living in Spain or possessing the legal requirements to live and work in Spain.
  • Valid references and up-to-date safeguarding checks.

What We Offer:

  • A friendly, supportive team that values collaboration, connection, and community.
  • Small class sizes, allowing for a personalised and high-quality approach to teaching.
  • Competitive salary.
  • Continuous professional development and opportunities for leadership progression.
  • Team building/ bonding activities throughout the year.
  • A central location in Barcelona, with excellent transport links, cafes, and shops close by.

The Ideal Candidate Will:

  • Be able to inspire students with a passion for their subject and help them develop a genuine love for learning.
  • Be confident in delivering high-quality, differentiated lessons that cater to all learners, from those striving for top grades to those requiring extra support.
  • Be committed to upholding high academic standards and helping every student reach their personal best, whether that’s achieving 100% or aiming to pass.
  • Be organised, motivated, and dedicated to student success.
  • Enjoy being part of a close-knit community, connecting with colleagues, students, and parents.
  • Take initiative in contributing ideas and proposing improvements to the school’s programs, activities, and trips that enrich the student experience.
  • Be committed to the safeguarding of all students.

If you are an excellent educator with a passion for your subject, high academic standards, and would love to be a valued member of a close-knit team, we’d love to hear from you!
