Values and vision

Named for John and Julia Scurr, a pair of 20th-century equality campaigners, the school strives to offer an inclusive style of learning that promotes tolerance, diversity and academic excellence. Governors work closely with staff to ensure that the themes of access, aspiration and achievement are properly enshrined within the school day.

Independence is another focus of the school, with pupils encouraged to support each other and think for themselves when encountering a problem.

Ofsted report

“Strong personal, spiritual, moral and cultural development is at the heart of the school’s success and underpins pupils’ good behaviour both in class and around the school. Pupils feel safe at school.”
