Hills Road Sixth Form College is seeking a highly organised and personable individual to take up the pivotal role of Adult Education Manager within our outstanding Sixth Form College, on a fixed-term basis until 28th February 2025 initially.

This is an excellent opportunity for the right candidate to be at the heart of operations for our Adult Education offering, which provides an important additional revenue stream for the college. With a new website and customer booking system recently launched, and an ambitious business plan in place to grow our provision, this is an exciting time to join us, initially on a fixed-term contract. The appointed person will manage the Adult Education team, which includes overseeing the enrolment process and recruitment of Adult Education tutors, maintaining an up-to-date website which integrates with our booking system, identifying new course offering opportunities and ensuring the overall smooth administration and operations of the Adult Education department.

You will be an accomplished customer service professional, with relevant customer service experience and will enjoy liaising with a variety of stakeholders in your current role. Experience of Adult Education related roles is desirable but by no means essential. Hybrid working is possible, with a minimum of three-days required onsite.

We offer great teamwork and a varied workload; an attractive salary; 24 days annual leave rising to 27 after 5 years’ service, plus bank holidays; free use of our on-site sports centre, including a newly refurbished gymnasium; talking therapy and wellbeing activities; automatic enrolment in our local government pension scheme; free on-site parking; and ongoing professional development.

Closing date: Friday 18 October 2024. We reserve the right to close the position early should a suitable candidate be identified.

Interviews: Tuesday 5 November 2024

Details and an application form for the above post may be obtained from our website www.hillsroad.ac.uk

About Hills Road Sixth Form College

The College operates on an attractive site just over a mile south of the centre of the historic city of Cambridge. Having responded to strong and sustained demand for places over a number of years we now have approaching 2,400 full-time 16-19 students for whom we provide a wide choice of A level subjects, together with the Extended Project qualification, an extensive and varied enrichment programme and responsive individual support and guidance. We also welcome around 4,000 part-time students on to our adult education programme in the evenings and at weekends.  The College is a study centre for the Open University and has a thriving Sports and Tennis Centre that is open to the local community.

The commitment and excellence of our staff together with the breadth of the curriculum make the College an exciting and enjoyable place in which to learn. Students are encouraged to achieve the highest standards not only in the classroom but also in a range of extra-curricular activities which help them to develop new skills, think independently and exercise their responsibilities as global citizens. We encourage staff and students to contribute strongly to College life and to enjoy its many opportunities. There are good relationships and a real sense of partnership in learning between staff and students, and many visitors comment on the College’s happy and purposeful atmosphere.

We are proud of the College’s national reputation for excellence and in our last two Ofsted inspections we were rated outstanding in all graded areas. The College has had the highest score of any sixth form college in the country in the Government’s examination performance table for ‘points per examination entry’ since the tables’ inception in 1993. In recent years the tables have included the percentage of students achieving at least AAB at A level in at least two of the Russell Group's 'facilitating subjects' with the College recording the strongest sixth form college percentage in each year. Retention and success rates are high and over 90% of our students progress to higher education.

The College is a stimulating and rewarding place in which to work and study. Facilities are excellent with new and remodelled purpose built accommodation. Our staff are valued and enjoy working in a friendly and supportive environment and all of us place the student at the heart of what we do. Please visit our website for more information.
