Scale SO1 Term Time Only - £32,321 - £33,348 (actual annual salary)

Required for ASAP

London East AP (LEAP) is a successful, high-achieving KS3, KS4 and Post-16 alternative provision located in Tower Hamlets.

We are seeking to appoint a talented and committed Maths and English Intervention Tutor to support some of our most vulnerable and challenging pupils with their English and Maths skills at our KS3 and our KS4 centres in Bow and Stepney Green in Tower Hamlets. The vast majority of our students have learning needs and often work significantly below grade 4 at GCSE in both Maths and English.

These are time limited interventions for students who need a period of time away from main groups following a period of poor behaviour.

Our students need much more than excellent support staff/practitioners with good subject knowledge and experience of and a preference for working with hard to reach, often vulnerable children.

They need staff who will care about their progress, practitioners who are able to support them with their personal development and wellbeing through education.

The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate a strong commitment to the LEAP aims, values and ethos and a proven track record of delivering excellent outcomes for students, including those with complex behavioural and SEND needs.

This post involves spending 1.5 hour daily sessions with selected students who need support with preparation for their English and Maths exams.

A graduate with good English and Maths skills is essential for this role, the purpose of which is to support pupils with their learning and exam preparation skills, enabling them to take as full a part in the school curriculum as possible and ensuring that they make best possible progress whilst they are at LEAP.

The successful candidates will be given English and Maths materials to support students with, as well as training on how to communicate with some of our more challenging and disengaged students at LEAP. Many of our students have learning challenges and struggle to access the curriculum beyond grades 3 and 4, often even lower

You will be required to record progress and report to and liaise with the Subject Leaders of English and Maths as well as our Deputy Headteacher responsible for KS4 at LEAP.

We are looking for a team player who is keen to make a real difference to some of our most vulnerable students at LEAP, someone who is professional, friendly, reliable and able to build positive relationships with our often vulnerable and disadvantaged pupils.

In order to be able to work with our students successfully, candidates must have strong literacy and numeracy skills and the academic ability to support students within the school curriculum which consists of GCSEs, BTECs and Functional Skills.

This is a full-time post, term time only, and offered at SO1, which translates to an annual income of £32,321 - £33,348.

Those wishing to be considered for the role should complete an application form and return to Kathryn Ryan, School Business Manager, by 12pm Monday, 22 January 2024. Please send to recruitment@londoneastap.org.uk

Interviews will take place in the same week.  Please be aware that we are unable to accept CVs.

We would welcome and encourage potential candidates to visit our schools. Please telephone or email to arrange this or for an application pack

-      Closing date for applications: Monday,  22nd January 2024
