Parkside School is in the process of developing a number of high-quality Alternative Provision curriculum pathways for our students. We are now looking at a new Alternative Provision Manager to lead and our new off-site provision. You will have the opportunity to design and develop a curriculum for mostly Key Stage four students who require a different curriculum pathway. Whilst this will include some traditional subjects such as maths and English, there will be the opportunity to engage students with experiential learning, educational visits and vocational courses. Success looks different for all individuals, so we implement a more holistic view of progress measures that capture small steps of improvement.
You will be well supported by a senior member of staff who will work with you to develop the provision for long term success. You will work as part of a small team of people and you will have access to transport to provide flexibility in the curriculum offer. As such the post holder will be required to hold a clean driving licence and a willingness to drive the school vehicle.
This can be a challenging role, but it is also immensely rewarding, and you will be well supported with training through being part of a wider pastoral team. Parkside has a Wellspring Positive Regard Specialist based in the school who is currently setting up this provision and he will also offer support once in post. This person will work very closely with the successful candidate to ensure you are skilled in assertive language.
At Parkside and Wellspring Academy Trust, we are keen to provide development opportunities which allow staff, at all levels to develop.
Our vision for Parkside School is that Parkside School should visibly and substantively impact on the community it is embedded within. This impact should be important, meaningful, and considerable. This means young people from Parkside should develop into well-rounded young people who know how to keep themselves safe. We want students to have a personal and specific hope for the future which they can articulate, believe in and share with others; students who can empathise, critique, protect, love, inspire, make, design, explore and understand; students who are willing to try things they have never done before, do things they don’t want to do and be willing to reinvent themselves to become the best that they can be.
As this is a new post, we would encourage any potential candidates to get in touch to discuss our exciting plans. You can do this by emailing Steve Tighe, Headteacher on s.tighe@wellspringacademies.org.uk
