University Centre Leeds is seeking an experienced assessor to support science apprentices on their journey to success. UC Leeds currently delivers science apprenticeships from Level 3 to Level 7. We are looking for an industry professional to assess knowledge, skills and behaviours of our science apprentices on site, whilst supporting them in building their portfolio of evidence towards the end point assessment (EPA)

What You Will Do

  • Managing your own caseload, arranging site visits and meeting with employers.
  • Monitoring progress and completing progress reviews.
  • Liaising with, and provide feedback to the employer on progress against the apprenticeship knowledge, skills and behaviours. 
  • To produce and monitor individual learning plans for learners and contribute to their updating.
  • Assess apprentice work against the relevant apprenticeship standards.
  • Lead, contribute and participate in the assessment and quality assurance procedures for all programmes/training provision, including internal verification. 
  • Contribute to the review and evaluation process in order to ensure year on year improvements.                 

About You

  • Hold a specialist qualification in the curriculum subject area at Masters level or significant industrial experience.
  • Possess A1 Assessor units or a willingness to work towards.
  • Level 3 teaching qualification or willingness to complete within a set time frame.
  • Previous experience of assessing and an understanding of the apprenticeship standards.
  • Experience of teaching, training peers or transferring skills to others.
  • Substantial industry experience in a relevant occupational area.
  • Understanding and experience of current working practices within the occupational area.
  • Experience of giving clear and constructive feedback to students to guide learning.
