About us

Doha College is a high-profile, leading, not-for-profit British International School for children aged 3–18. Its vision is to enable personal growth, instil a passion for learning, and create aspirational minds whilst offering a well-balanced, all-embracing curriculum that follows the English National Curriculum. It was the first High Performance Learning accredited school in the world and has consistently outstanding educational achievements and excellent examination results at all stages.

We have been established in Qatar for over 40 years under the patronage of the British Embassy. This is an exceptional opportunity to play a part in the continual improvement of a school with an already renowned worldwide reputation for excellence. With 2,500 students and 350 staff, the school is a vibrant international community that subscribes to equal opportunities for all. Recently, we moved to a brand-new, 90,000m² state-of-the-art campus, amalgamating two previous sites and ensuring the College’s place at the forefront of educational provision in world-class facilities.

The opportunity

We are looking to appoint an Arabic speaker to work as an Arabic Language Assistant to assist the language teacher with classes, to provide support to students and to prepare materials for lessons.

You will be working in a friendly and supportive team and in a school where languages are continuing to grow in popularity.

This is a non-sponsored position and only candidates with family sponsorship currently residing in Qatar will be considered. The position will be based at our Al Wajba Campus.

About you

The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing students for their GCSE and A level examinations by improving their confidence in communicating in the target language. The post holder will also help classes to become more interactive and fun through discussing contemporary aspects of Arabic youth culture such as current affairs, education, sports, films, TV, lifestyles, celebrations and fashion.

The ideal candidate will be fluent in Arabic and will have some experience working with young people and an understanding of their needs. The ability to speak another language, such as Spanish, French or German would be a distinct advantage.

We are a British international school and all of our lessons are taught in English, therefore a high standard of written and spoken English is essential for all positions.

Please note: Due to government requirements, we can only consider applicants who are above 18 and below 50 years old for this position.
