Location: St Dominic’s School, Hambledon, Nr Godalming, Surrey GU8 4DX
Working Pattern: 35 hours per week, Term Time only, Monday to Friday 8:30-16:30 (with 1-hour lunch break unpaid)
St Dominic’s School is a well-known and highly regarded special school in Surrey and stands in 56 acres of wooded grounds with ample space for recreational activities. The school caters for up to 150 pupils and Sixth Form students between the ages of 7 – 19, who have a range of academic abilities and complex needs. It is owned and run by Orchard Hill College Academy Trust.
We offer access to an extensive range of GCSE subjects pitched at individual students’ levels. Within the Sixth Form, students are able to access external college placements as part of their personalised holistic education and therapy provision.
The School has an in-house team of qualified therapists offering Speech and Language Therapy, Occupational Therapy and Sensory Integration. The range of therapeutic support available to pupils and students enables them to access the curriculum at an appropriate level, maximising each individual’s potential for achievement. Additionally, there are purpose-built medical facilities where nursing cover is provided on a daily basis by qualified staff.
The School has achieved Advanced Autism Accreditation, the prestigious Arts Council ‘Artsmark’ Silver Award and holds the National Healthy Schools status.
We are looking for a highly motivated and creative individual who will:
• Support the Teachers in the Art and Design & Technology Departments.
• Support Pupils
• Contribute with Assessment, Monitoring and Evaluation
• Administration and Management of Resources
• Preparation of materials and equipment for classroom lessons.
• Maintain the equipment and services in good order.
The successful candidate will be required to support all pupils in their planned work, both in small group situations and individually, clarifying and explaining instructions as required to enable them to complete the work to their full ability.
You must be able to convey the subject to pupils and students and support to ensure the best possible progress. The successful candidate will have a commitment to developing outstanding practice and a passion for making a difference to the education and lives of our young people by motivating and inspiring our pupils and students to be the best that they can be while building positive and supportive relationships.
