The school

Ashley College was judged ‘Outstanding’ (OFSTED Mar2024). We support vulnerable pupils with medical needs, primarily emotional and mental health needs. At the centre we cater for up to 20 KS3-KS4 pupils, taught in small groups, some may have blended learning packages. We also provide a home tuition service for up to 15 KS1-KS4 pupils.

Our pupils present with a wide range of abilities – from pupils working at primary level to GCSE grade 7- 9. We believe that the key to our success is the high level of academic and pastoral support we offer our pupils in a caring and nurturing environment.

Ashley College has a warm, welcoming atmosphere and is set in an attractive location that benefits from excellent transport links. Our teachers manage their own subject areas. Our centre based group sizes are small, and our pupils make excellent progress from their starting points.

We are seeking a part time inspirational Art and Design Teacher.

Our ‘healthy body, healthy mind’ philosophy extends to our therapeutic curriculum and pupils are taught life skills such as cookery, preparing for work life and also participate in yoga, Equine, boxing, gym and gardening.

Through the promotion of our core values of resilience, self-confidence, tolerance, and respect provide a safe and nurturing environment where children and young people feel listened to, valued, supported, gain confidence and thrive, ready to face challenges. The role

·        To lead on and teach Art and Design in accordance with the appropriate syllabus and in the context of the aims of Ashley College and the needs of pupils

·        To continue to ensure Art and Design maintains a high profile and pupils are exposed to a varied range of appropriate Art and Design experiences

·        Ensure pupils’ work is displayed and celebrated at appropriate events

·        To work as part of the Ashley College team providing high quality teaching to individuals and groups of pupils

·        To take responsibility for and ensure the art room and resources are maintained to a high standard and comply with COSHH risk assessments

·        To enable the Ashley College team to fulfil statutory and regulatory roles in line with national and local policies, regulations and guidance

·        To demonstrate a commitment to continuously improve the delivery and quality of service to pupils, parents/carers, partner agencies, colleagues and managers

·        To work in partnership with families and colleagues in schools to provide excellent education whilst pupils are out of mainstream school and reintegration support

·        To contribute to the provision of the high quality pastoral support to meet the holistic needs of all pupils and their families and to act as tutor to an identified cohort of pupils

·        To support the delivery of wellbeing programme for pupils

·        To carry out all the duties and responsibilities outlined in the latest Teachers’ Pay and Conditions Document and to uphold and strive to fully meet the Teachers’ Standards

·        To be flexible and adaptable, willing to train and be prepared to deliver on a range of responsibilities as the needs of Ashley College evolve, commensurate to their role and job description
