Role Overview:

The Teacher Assistant will support the classroom teacher in delivering high-quality education to students in the Primary and Early Years sections of the school. This role involves assisting with instructional activities, preparing learning materials, providing individual support to students, and helping create a positive and inclusive learning environment. The ideal candidate will be passionate about early childhood and primary education, with a commitment to fostering a love of learning in a multicultural and multilingual environment.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Classroom Support:

- Assist the classroom teacher with day-to-day instructional activities.

- Support students during lessons by providing additional explanations, guidance, and encouragement.

- Help manage classroom behavior and ensure a safe, respectful learning environment.

2. Individualized Student Support:

- Work with individual students or small groups to reinforce learning concepts, especially in literacy and numeracy.

- Provide support to students with diverse learning needs, including those with special educational needs (SEN) or English as an Additional Language (EAL).

- Monitor and record students’ progress, reporting any concerns to the classroom teacher.

3. Preparation of Learning Materials:

- Assist in preparing and organizing instructional materials and resources.

- Set up activities and learning centers as directed by the teacher.

- Help with the creation of visual aids, displays, and educational resources that enhance the learning environment.

4. Supervision and duties:

- Supervise students during break times, lunchtimes, and other non-instructional periods.

- Provide care and support to students, ensuring their well-being and safety.

- Assist with the organization and supervision of educational visits, excursions, and special events.

5. Administrative Support:

- Assist with the administration of classroom activities, such as attendance records, grading, and report preparation.

- Help maintain student files and records, ensuring confidentiality and accuracy.

6. Collaboration and Communication:

- Work collaboratively with teachers, support staff, and parents to enhance student learning and well-being.

- Participate in staff meetings, professional development sessions, and school events as required.

- Communicate effectively with students, colleagues, and parents, demonstrating cultural sensitivity and professionalism.

Ideally, the right candidate will also do the bus monitor from Marbella/ La Cala de Mijas (extra payment).

Qualifications and Requirements:

- Education: A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent; a certificate or diploma in Early Childhood Education, Teaching Assistance, or a related field is preferred.

- Experience: Previous experience as a teaching assistant or in a similar educational role, especially in an international or bilingual school setting, is advantageous.

- Language Skills: Proficiency in English.

- Skills:

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multicultural, multilingual environment.
  • Organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Patience, empathy, and a passion for working with young children.
