Erskine Stewart’s Melville Schools are currently recruiting for an Assistant Groundsperson to join ESMS on a temporary basis, from 7 October 2024 (subject to satisfactory pre-employment checks) to 7 April 2025. The role is full time, working 39 hours per week plus 4 hours every second Saturday during term time. The salary will be from £26,843 to £28,627 per annum dependent on qualifications and experience. The role is based across all three ESMS sites and therefore the candidate must have a full, clean driving license to use the ESMS vehicles.

The role primarily involves grounds maintenance and gardening, such as keeping the grounds in good order, pruning, planting, and mowing. It also includes general maintenance tasks like litter collection, sweeping, drain upkeep, de-icing in winter, and ensuring equipment is maintained. Additionally, the role involves providing grounds security as needed and carrying out other tasks as requested by the Head Grounds Person.

The successful candidate will have experience with pedestrian and petrol engine rotary and cylinder mowers, petrol engine hedge trimmers and strimmers, and operating amenity diesel tractors with various attachments, such as gang mowers, rotary mowers, turf aerators, sand spreaders, trailers, and drag brushes.

Eligibility
