Doha Academy is a QNSA (Qatar National Schools Accreditation) and NEASC (New England Association of Schools and Colleges) accredited school, committed to the development and well-being students and staff. We are one of the oldest and most respected schools in Qatar. Our thriving 2000+ student population is aged between 3 and 18 years old and is made up of over 40 different nationalities. 

We are looking for an exceptional Assistant Head with responsibility for inclusion to join one of our Key Stage 1 – 2 school immediately. Successful candidates will have a strong background in inclusion, preferably having held a SENCo role or similar.

Doha Academy’s vision and mission is to provide an outstanding, accessible and all-inclusive education. The majority of our students have English as a second language, and the ability to support students with language acquisition would be an advantage.

Key responsibilities for the successful candidate include:

- To create an effective dialogue between parents and school and pupil and school, reporting to and informing parents of the stage of support appropriate to their child. To formulate and maintain close links with outside agencies.

- Ensuring relevant background information about individual children is collected, recorded and updated.

- To organize the initial assessment of pupils, and to assist subject teachers with the wiring of Individual Education Plans for each pupil and regularly review the interventions that are in place.

- To arrange regular meetings with support staff to keep them informed about policies/developments/procedures.

- To plan and organise timetables for each class so that an appropriate amount of support from the SENCO and Special Support Assistants is given, depending on the number of identified learners.

- To inform teaching staff of policies/developments/procedures, and the needs of individual pupils.

- Liaise with Heads of Section or those with delegated responsibilities on the progress of SEN pupils.

- Ensure that SEN pupils have full access to the curriculum. To advise and guide staff with the implementation of differentiated resources and schemes of work in accordance with school policy.

- Work with Support Assistants and subject staff to monitor differentiation and the implementation of IEPs.

- Create a culture where collaborative, progressive learning is highly valued amongst staff and students, be engaging, possess excellent communication skills and have strong emotional intelligence. 

- Lead on related CPD with staff including team teaching.

This is a full-time vacancy offering a permanent contract. Start date: immediate

Applicants:

Essential: PGCE or B.Ed. with an inclusion background and ability to work with primary and secondary students.

Preferable: 2+ years’ experience as a SENCo; experience of working in a British-curriculum school
