MBIS – ‘Where teachers love to teach, and children love to learn.’
Our school
As one of the most prestigious international schools in Cairo, MBIS has been delivering the best in British international education for almost 30 years. MBIS serves a truly international, English-speaking body with over 61 nationalities represented. MBIS resides on purpose-built premises, combining modern and Arabic architecture, in leafy Maadi, historically an ex-pat area of Cairo. Our school site incorporates a fully equipped theatre, indoor swimming pool and athletics track as well as specialist classrooms, labs, library, and music rooms. Our not-for-profit school has developed a vibrant and welcoming environment that provides a world-class British education for every pupil who enters its doors. The core purpose of MBIS is to ensure that every single pupil develops themselves to the best of their ability through the support and challenge offered by our inclusive school environment. We cater for students from 3 up to and including IGCSE and are busy with plans to expand our provision post 16 due to demand. We are fortunate to work with a lovely, supportive school community and class sizes are far below what might be expected in the UK. Our results are also significantly above UK averages at all levels.
In 2021 we were rated ‘Excellent’ in all categories by our BSO inspection, and we are proud to also be members of several international and British school organisations. The school enjoys the patronage of the British Embassy and is a member of the British Schools in the Middle East (BSME). MBIS is fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people, and adults. All applicants must be willing to undergo child protection screening, including checks with past employers and Disclosure and Barring Service checks and international equivalents.

Cairo is one of the world’s most renowned cities and contains everything anyone might want. Cairo also has a beautiful climate with a mild winter season and a hot dry summer. Just a short journey also brings you to some of the best diving and beach resorts in the world as well as culture in world heritage sites such as those found in Luxor.
