Kingsway Park High School is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Assistant Headteacher to lead on SEND provision across our school, including our specialist provision, Kingsway Avenue. This is an exciting opportunity to join our leadership team and make a significant difference in the lives of young people with additional needs.

About the Role: As the Assistant Headteacher responsible for Additional Needs, you will lead our SEND provision, including Kingsway Avenue, ensuring that barriers to learning are removed so that all students can achieve their best. Kingsway Avenue provides tailored support for students with SEND, using an innovative primary model to cater for complex individual needs.

You will work closely with school leaders, teachers, and support staff to develop and deliver high-quality SEND strategies, ensuring that students receive the tailored interventions they need to thrive. You will also build strong relationships with parents, external agencies, and the Local Authority SEND team, to provide a holistic approach to student development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and management of SEND policies and practices across the school, ensuring compliance with the SEND Code of Practice (2015).
  • Oversee the day-to-day management of Kingsway Avenue, our specialist provision for students with additional needs.
  • Work with school leaders to deploy support staff and deliver SEND interventions effectively, ensuring that all students have access to an inclusive and engaging curriculum.
  • Promote awareness and understanding of SEND strategies across the school to support effective teaching and learning for all.
  • Lead on professional development for staff in relation to SEND.
  • Build strong relationships with parents, external agencies, and the Local Authority SEND team to ensure a joined-up approach to supporting students.
  • Monitor student performance, using data to inform decisions and improve outcomes for SEND students.

Who We’re Looking For: We are looking for a dynamic and compassionate leader with a strong commitment to inclusion and a passion for supporting students with SEND. You will have:

  • Proven experience in SEND leadership, with a strong understanding of the SEND Code of Practice and best practices in inclusive education.
  • The ability to inspire and motivate staff, students, and families, with a focus on raising aspirations and achievement for all.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to develop and implement strategies to improve outcomes for students with additional needs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with colleagues, parents, and external agencies.
  • A commitment to promoting the school’s values and ethos, with a focus on creating a safe, nurturing, and supportive learning environment for all students.

We are now a very popular oversubscribed school in central Rochdale with 1350 students in Years 7-11 and 190 staff.
