Job overview

We are looking for an Assistant Headteacher who will strive to make a substantial difference to the lives of our students, our school and the wider community.

The successful candidate must be an experienced, dynamic, highly skilled, creative and inspirational leader who relishes the challenges of school improvement. You must have a proven track record of raising standards and be ready to play a significant role in our highly ambitious, non-selective and non-denominational school.

We want someone to join us who is ambitious for themselves, our school and our trust and, furthermore, someone who shares our visions and values.

This is a great opportunity for an individual who is looking for a leadership role in which they will secure maximum impact and secure our students’ and their own progression.

Uplands Academy converted to an Academy in September 2022 and became a member of the MARK Education Trust (formerly Beacon Community College Academy Trust). The acronym MARK was selected because staff who work in the trust are motivated, ambitious, resourceful, and knowledgeable. This partnership will provide many exciting opportunities for professional development and the sharing of good practice across the schools within the trust.

We work meticulously to secure a culture of unapologetically high expectations that are underpinned by our collective, uncompromising belief and ambition for the students of Uplands Academy and for the experienced, loyal, highly skilled and highly effective team of staff that teach them, allowing teachers to teach and students to learn. The Academy is committed to the development of both its staff and students.

At Uplands Academy, the relationships between our staff and our students are excellent and ones that we are proud of. Our staff have high expectations, are ambitious for our students, and they know them well. We pride ourselves on our rigorous focus on the child as a unique individual, including our most disadvantaged and those with SEND. We ensure that the lessons that our students receive are personalised and inclusive, enabling them to be actively engaged in their learning. We want our children to be happy, successful, and confident by providing the best possible education for all our students. We want to be an exceptional educational establishment for our community.

We strongly encourage candidates to come and visit our school. For further details or to arrange a visit, please contact Holly Taylor, Head of HR, on 01892 782135 or email hr@uplandscc.com.

Closing date: 9am on Friday 19th January 2024

Interview date: w/c 22nd January 2024

All posts are subject to DBS enhanced clearance, health checks and satisfactory references. MARK Education Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

The acronym MARK was selected because staff who work in the trust are motivated, ambitious, resourceful, and knowledgeable. This is the start of a new era for Uplands and an excellent time to join our thriving rural school.
