About the Post
Following a 40% increase in Year 7 admissions in September 2022 and a 60% increase in first preference applications for Year 7 in September 2023, we are delighted to be growing our Senior Leadership Team with the addition of an Assistant Headteacher.
We are seeking a passionate, dedicated and ambitious senior leader to join us as we continue to transform education across our town. In September 2021, Twynham School and The Grange School (TGS) federated staffing structures enabling us to launch an ambitious and progressive vision for the education provided by our two schools. As we head into the third year of our journey, we are excited to be advertising this unique opportunity to lead behaviour, attendance and safeguarding at TGS whilst being a part of a wider team leading strategically across the two secondary schools of Christchurch.
TGS was judged to be a “good” school in December 2021, the very first inspection under the new federated leadership. A rapid improvement journey from “inadequate” in March 2018 has been shared by many of the current leadership team and the recent success demonstrated the effectiveness and efficacy of our approach. However, there is still much work to be done and you will be joining a school that is gathering considerable momentum at a crucial stage in its improvement journey.
This is a truly exceptional opportunity for a talented colleague.

· Champion exemplary behaviour, delivering excellence in this area through the development and consistent implementation of effective evidence-informed approaches
· Act as the Designated Safeguarding Lead for TGS within a wider safeguarding team led by the Deputy Head (Pastoral) to implement secure and effective processes to safeguarding our students
You are likely to be someone who is or has the potential to be:
· An inspirational and skilled classroom teacher with a secure understanding of how to achieve exceptional academic outcomes for young people
· A passionate and energetic leader who thrives in a fast-paced and aspirational culture
· Is passionate about transforming life chances within an inclusive and challenging context
· Ambitious for whole school and system leadership in the future
You will also be keen to live our Twynham Learning employee values which are:
· Aim high
· Keep improving
· Don’t leave anyone behind
· See the bigger picture

- The chance to be a part of an exciting educational journey alongside highly regarding professionals

- An exceptional CPD offer from ECT through to preparation for senior and system leadership
- Strong and supportive leadership, who place value on learning beyond the classroom
- The opportunity to work within Twynham Learning; a progressive multi-academy trust

About The Grange School
About The Grange School
We are on a journey of rapid school improvement - recognised by Ofsted which awarded us a ‘good’ in every category when we were inspected under the challenging new framework in 2021 - and we are committed to ensuring we provide the very best education for every single one of our students.
The Grange School is proud to be a small, community school, which means students and staff across different subjects and year groups are able to form unique relationships and every child is known and understood as an individual. Our links with Twynham School through the Twynham Learning Trust of which we are proud to be a part of, mean that our students can enjoy access to the sort of curriculum offer, extra-curricular activities and opportunities and staff expertise associated with a much larger organisation. In other words, we have the best of both.
We are proud to be a fully-inclusive school in which all young people can thrive and become the best version of themselves that they can be. We believe in the power of education to change individuals’ lives, and that all children, irrespective of background or ability deserve the same opportunities that will enable them to enter the world with all the doors open to them and to fulfil whatever their ambitions are.
